 At least that seems to be what South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford does. Without telling anyone. If this guy gets re-elected it will be a miracle. Or maybe just South Carolina.

The Right, and especially Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have really gone insane.

A quote from a salon article summing up the logic behind their attempt to pin James Von Brunn's attack on the Holocaust Museum on Liberals.

Let me break all that down for you:

• There is a rising tide of political violence, prompted by militant Islam, the corruption in our left-wing government, political correctness and the bailout of General Motors.
• Von Brunn is part of this phenomenon, as is al-Qaida.
• Von Brunn, infuriated by the rise of militant Islam (among other things), may even have been working with al-Qaida.
• Von Brunn is a Nazi.
• But so are liberals.
• Which is why the liberal-fascist DHS issued a report warning of right-wing violence against Jews.
• Which was obviously a smear job against conservatives.
• Because it’s not the right that’s violent; it’s the left that’s targeting Jews (and conservatives, apparently) for attacks, and it’s because of the increasing pressure caused by leftist policies.

Got that?

Obama gets some takeout from Five Guys.

Kylie and I got a couple of "cheap" seats to the Phillies/Yankees Interleague ball game for my birthday. The stadium is definitely an impressive facility. Big and cold and windy and expensive and all concrete. It reminded me of two things: A high end outdoor shopping mall, and Mussolini era public archetecture, like the Milan train station.

It was a good game, and the Yankees wound up winning in the bottom of the 9th, when Brad Lidge blew his third save of the year in dramatic fashion.

 How could anyone believe that the CIA would ever lie to Congress? The thought is just unthinkable! C'mon the CIA! They don't have their own agenda. They don't run a shadow government. They would never be involved with something like drug running or trading arms to our enemies. They would never ever ever decieve American congresspeople, period. End of story. Oh, and waterbording is just a refreshing splash of water in the face, similar to what happens when you ride the log flume at Great Adventure.

 Physics brings out amateur idiots that think they understand the universe, like no other field in Science. Exhibit one is the notorius Archemedes Plutonium. This overeducated janitor at Dartmouth brought havoc to the sci.physics Usenet board, ultimately making it useless with his idiotic flamebait.

The latest example (of many many, idiots, including a couple of my non-Physicist professors in college)  is this guy, Charles William Johnson. His article "The Square Root of the Speed of Light and the Speed of Light Squared" is gobeldygook. Anyone with an undergraduate Physics degree, can briefly read it and realize, "this is utter shit."  I am sad for anyone that comes across this or any of the similar screeds on the internet and takes it seriously. 

I am trying to understand exactly what it matters whether Nancy Pelosi knew about waterboarding or not?

It is still a morally reprehensible tool that is against all international anti-torture treaties.

We prosecuted Japanese for doing the same thing to Americans.

The Bush Administration (at the constant prodding of Dick Cheney) administered this torture.

Whether Pelosi knew or not, she could do nothing to stop it. Discussing it with anyone without the highest security clearance is a crime.

So trying to pin this "YOU KNEW TOO!!!" claim would point out only that she was a hypocrite. This has no impact on policy or crimes that were committed, or anything of substance. It is sand being thrown up in the air to obfuscate the undeniable fact that the Bush Administration broke the national and international laws for no discernable value.
