My iPod has a sense of humor. It played Hedwig's Lament, a brief and sad summary of Hedwig's sad life ("They cut me up in pieces....I gave a piece to the Rock Star. He took the good stuff and ran.") followed by Talking Heads No Compassion ("So many people have their problems. I'm not interested in their problems...Talk to your analyst. Isn't that what they're paid for")

The NY Times deconstructs what one Fox News analyst called the "Terrorist Fist Pump." Um, people: This is a common gesture, and its use is not limited to Democrats with unusual names. In 2001 it was used by Carleton S. Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive — now advising Senator John McCain — and Michael D. Capellas, then the Compaq chief executive, to salute the completion of their merger. And in 2006, former President George Bush shared a fist bump with Anna Kournikova at a celebrity tennis event — and he was 82 at the time. I must say, I have done the Fist Bump myself. When I saw it, I thought it was cute. I also thought that Fox would just tag it as a Black Power thing, which it is not, but they went straight for the Nuclear option and branded it as terrorism. Next Fox called Michele Obama Barack's Baby Mama, a term that implies that their children were conceived and born out of wedlock and remain so. More Fun in the New World to come.

Normally, I wouldn't want to put myself through seeing a documentary movie about Abu Ghraib. I figure I know all I need to about it. BUT, now that Errol Morris gets his hands into the topic, I think I can expect to have my expectations turned upside down. I think the Fog of War was a great movie that showed the complexities of truth and blame and responsibility and self-deception. This could be similar. I might actually want to see this one.
